Between fast fashion, Prime, and getting everything on-demand, it’s easy to get sucked into buying it all.
And before you know it, you've lost countless hours to the online shopping black hole, and your closet is overflowing.
This was me a few years ago.
Curious to give the whole decluttering thing a try, I consulted Marie Kondo’s best-seller The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.
Initially, I was skeptical of the hype and found the book pandering at times, but figured it couldn’t hurt to put the ‘KonMari Method’ to the test. After purging my wardrobe, I began to see the benefits...
No 1. Reduces the time it takes you to get dressed.
No 2. Helps you identify true holes in your closet (+ product ideas).
No 3. Makes you a better, quicker shopper.
I realized that the biggest hole I had in my closet was a jacket that was super versatile and comfy. As I went on a hunt for this jacket, it became clear that shopping with intent is much harder than shopping on impulse. In the past, I would make frivolous purchases on so-so things. Now, I’m much more intentional.
Aside from being one of the driving forces to start a business, simplifying my wardrobe has benefited other areas of my life...
Instead of spending hours and hours aimlessly shopping, and sifting through my wardrobe, I now divert my energy to writing, running, and more important things.
I'm loving this new found clarity and continuing to find more ways to reduce mental and physical clutter.
